The Caring for Girls With Period Initiative hosted its annual Royal Daisy 3.0 event on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Its focus was on empowering young girls to take charge of their reproductive health, confidence, education, and social impact. This year’s theme, “BE HER – Highly Spirited, Eloquent, and Relentless,” set the stage for a day filled with performances, insightful talks, and valuable discussions. The event drew over 400 students from 20 different schools across Lagos State.
The event featured captivating sessions, including a talent hunt showcasing drama, singing, and dance competitions, as well as debates between participating schools, a quiz, and a spelling bee. Winners in these categories received cash prizes sponsored by Development Initiative for Youth Excellence, Progress, and Stability (DIYEPS), while Lush Hair, Munch It, and Minimie Chinchin provided consolation prizes. Additional partners, including Bissape Organic Drink, Contentique Studios, Wildflower PR, Ubiiko Consulting, Biyode, Adigun Media, and Fabwoman, also supported the event. A hygiene talk and pad demonstration by Odoh Jennifer offered practical insights on menstrual health and hygiene management.
The medical team led an informative session on breast cancer and cervical cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection and proactive health practices. Ms. Chiegere Courage founder DIYEPS spoke on building self-esteem and facing challenges with courage. Ms. Frankie, representing the event’s headline sponsor(Tolaram Groups), inspired the girls to become their best selves, focusing on self-improvement and personal growth.
The program also featured a panel discussion on “Strategies for Young Girls to Drive Change and Impact Society,” encouraging girls to envision themselves as leaders and changemakers leading progressive change in the society.
The Caring for Girls With Period Initiative expressed gratitude to all partners; DIYEPS, Tolaram Group, Lush Hair, Munch it, Minimie chinchin, special guests; Chiegere Courage Uchechi, Toyosi Bakare of Big Brother Naija, and participating schools who made Royal Daisy 3.0 a success. With each event, the initiative continues to create spaces where girls are empowered to embrace their uniqueness, voice their dreams, and rise above challenges.
