Access to safe and dignified menstruation is a fundamental need yet over 100million women and girls around the world lack access to menstrual care. Caring For Girls With Period Initiative aids in educating girls and women especially the not so privileged ones about menstrual hygiene, sex education, importance of education and self-esteem amongst others. Over the years, we’ve been able to reach out to over 30,000 women and girls and we intend to do more to make sure that period poverty is totally eliminated from Africa.
We hold outreaches monthly in all our chapters, Both within and outside Nigeria (Including but not limited to Liberia and Sierra Leone). We visit rural communities, homes for girls and young women with special needs, prisons and schools. We educate these females about menstrual hygiene, health care, sex education, self esteem amongst others. During our outreaches, we distribute sanitary products to them for free, and give them visual demonstrations about how to use these products (mostly in rural communities). We have held outreaches in over 20 states in Nigeria including, Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Benue, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Kano, Imo and Anambra states.
