Girls With Period initiative held another edition of its highly anticipated community outreach event, Games for Charity. The vibrant gathering brought together advocates, youth, and allies for an evening of engaging, purpose-driven fun focused on the fight against period poverty.
The event featured a mix of board games, floor games, and archery, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment that encouraged interaction, awareness, and community giving. Participants enthusiastically embraced the event’s purpose while enjoying moments of laughter and connection.
Several community-focused organizations contributed meaningfully to the event. Isanja Board Game and Buzzing Bees Thrills and Tours offered diverse game options that sparked collaboration and excitement throughout the venue. She Inc donated sanitary pads to support Girls With Period’s ongoing outreach programs, and Naija Feminist Media provided media presence and conducted a short interview to highlight the significance of menstrual equity in Nigeria.
“Being here reminded me that advocacy doesn’t have to be formal to be powerful,” shared Tomisin, an attendee and first-time volunteer. “We played, we laughed, and we left knowing we were part of something that matters.”
Volunteers played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of the event from managing guest coordination, facilitating activities, and keeping the energy high. Their commitment reflected the heart of the movement: youth-led, community-powered, and impact-driven.
Donations collected, including sanitary pads from She Inc, will directly support girls in underprivileged communities. Girls With Period remains committed to finding creative and community-driven ways to combat period poverty.
Games for Charity remains one of the organization’s most effective platforms for combining education, advocacy, and entertainment. Girls With Period continues to innovate community engagement strategies, ensuring that conversations around menstruation are not only accessible but empowering.
